I want to stop, or at least slow down, the rapid decline of populations of wild plant species. Many plant species in the Netherlands- as well as in the rest of the world- show negative trends due to habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation. There is a great need to study why certain species are declining to help conserve them for the future.

Loss of species can lead to ecosystem instability, which can have large negative effects on a local, regional, national or even a global scale. I think that creating more awareness of this is key for starting initiatives that will help us move to a sustainable future.
